It’s officially spring in Los Angeles, which means dress season is here! During the spring and fall when the weather is in transition, I find myself reaching for my maxi dresses since the weather can be a bit chilly for bare legs. In general, I love maxi dresses because they are comfortable and it can be really fun to style them. Today, I’m sharing my style tips on making the most out of your maxi dress and maximizing your closet.
wear it with a sweater + belt
When the weather is a bit chilly, style your maxi dress underneath a sweater for some warmth. If your sweater is not already cropped, throw on a wide belt and tuck in the front of your sweater. You can also use a belt bag, like I did in this look. This way you get the illusion of a skirt and are making the most out of your maxi dress! If you’re a baby in the cold, like me, wear some leggings underneath your dress. As long as your dress has no slits, nobody will ever know.
wear it with a knotted top
When the weather is a bit warmer, style your maxi dress underneath a basic tee. If your tee isn’t cropped, simply tie it in the front to make it knotted. I usually go for this simple white tee since it goes with any color or print. Again, this will give the illusion of a skirt and is another way to make the most of your maxi dress.
I hope you enjoyed these two style tips and can put them to good use this spring! It’s been my favorite way to maximize my closet. Next time you see me in a skirt, maybe it’ll really be a dress. 😉
